I'd say there have always been some good and some trash movies. Debbie Does Dallas wasn't the Godfather.
Go watch Bubba Ho Tep from 2002. 20 years later and it still makes no sense to me.
However, in regards to the Oscars, it seems Hollywood is on a mission to reward all the groups they've felt guilty of ignoring over the decades.
Was very surprised Killers of the Flower Moon didn't win all the awards last night. They've spent the last 10 years rewarding minority groups who have made ok movies rather than awarding the Best Movie of the year.

Or even the fact that Barbie was even selected?? Women empowerment??
I guess I agree with you, not necessarily that movies are garbage, but that the supposed message being sent is.
