You don't think hedge funds coordinate their efforts when they short a stock into bankruptcy?

There are written rules to investing/trading which are monitored by the SEC. However, there are practices that occur, which cannot necessarily be proven and/or ignored by the SEC.

It's not illegal to buy or sell stock. However, the manner in which they do it creates FOMO, which triggers retail and novice investors to buy. Then when they sell large blocks of a stock, it causes the price to drop. The novice panics, sells and loses $$.

Most of the institutional trading is done with high speed computers and algorithms. I would assume you don't trade this way? So you are already at a disadvantage.

So it's best to have an understanding of how the markets really work before you invest.
