No one came after the kids. You just can't fathom people being different. No one dreams of having a trans kid or having to watch them grow up different. But a parent's love is stronger than that and they do whatever it takes to make them feel whole. I'm sure you would do the same if you were in that particular circumstance. You feel it could never happen to you or anyone in your family, but it does. Maybe a grandchild or great grandchild down the road so don't be so smug and sure of your own future.
