Good question, the PR does say ‘they’ and ‘we’ when talking about working and collaborating with Dr. Madanayake and his team at FIU……DLOC gets to commercialize and license exclusively what FIU comes to market with, so any help from Dr. Rappaport and NYU on these collaborations from NYU i guess can only help DLOC:

During the conversation, both Dr. Rappaport and Dr. Madanayake stressed the importance of the standardized measurement facility they are creating. Dr. Rappaport said, “It’s a one-of-a-kind terahertz measurement facility that the world can come to and measure their chips or check out radio amplifiers and send them to their propagation measurement sites to make channel measurements for propagation from 67 gigahertz up to 500 gigahertz.”

Dr. Rappaport continued, "What's exciting is we have two of the biggest probe station manufacturers for RFIC design both contributing as core partners to build the world's first four port chip test.

Its all about Santenna (tm) and the FIU team that DLOC has an exclusive right to commercialize and license out the new vell phone, wireless and satellite tech they are developing….DLOC has funded this team:

FIU is one of the United States top wireless communication and satellite University research and development centers, and DLOC is the ONLY public company that has an EXCLUSIVE agreement with FIU to commercialize and license out this new wireless and cell phone to satellite communication….simply huge. From the PR last week:

“The development of the Company’s SatennaTM technology is being performed under a sponsored research agreement with Florida International University, funded by Digital Locations. The Company has exclusive rights to license and commercialize the IP and technology that result from this project.”

…i dont know if Theodore Rappapaort is or will become part of the FIU or DLOC team…..but the team and lab at FIU is already one of the best in wireless and satellite research and development:

This technology is disruptive because it doesn't exist today[,” said Elias Alwan, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at the College of Engineering and Computing and principal investigator for the grant. “Our phones do not typically have the capacity to allow for strong wireless links with satellites. We have outlined an idea that could help society overcome this challenge.”

The technology would stand to benefit many. Residents in rural areas could use it to have consistent high-speed internet access. Passengers on a cruise ship could use their phones to make video calls from the open ocean. After a hurricane, the technology could help residents in a city that has suffered damage to its cell towers sustain high-speed communications.

“The radio spectrum is arguably the most valuable natural resource in the world,” said co-principal investigator Arjuna Madanayake, an associate professor of electrical and computer engineering. “We hope to create out- of-this-world technology that offers massive capacity and access on a global scale.”

The technology that FIU is pursuing would allow for direct satellite to smartphone connections using existing devices and potentially current satellite constellations. This has typically been a challenge in the industry and one that will need breakthroughs in areas that FIU has specific expertise, such as circuitry, antenna design and frequency choices.

Alwan is an expert in wireless radios, a National Science Foundation Career Awardee and a recipient of more than $14 million in research grants as a collaborator since arriving at FIU in 2017. Madanayake is an expert in digital radio design and a recipient of multiple grants from government agencies and the National Science Foundation.

“At FIU, we are fortunate to have one of the most fully equipped labs for the research of radio frequency systems in the U.S.," Alwan said. “Our research team is optimistic about our plan and excited for the opportunity to make this important contribution to the telecommunications industry.”

…so DLOC’s Santenna (tm) has these many Patents already granted as foundation, covering all sorts of new antenna and frequency modifications and techniques, that can connect to starlink, blue origin or any existing or future satellite with high speed …because of their tech breakthrough…..no modification needed like bigger antenna on satellites (what would cost be to o stall those or to capture each one and perform this in space? Astronomical, lol.) So DLOC has a chance to strike a deal or forge on its own if it can come to market soon with this tech breakthrough….and having the Patents protects them in many ways from any copycats that may come up even from the big boys…..
