In The same manner an honest person would steal a briefcase and take away. If I was concerned about someone picking it up I would have it hid or secured.

It all depends on the items stored and your individual security needs.

If I was concerned about a fire in the house I would sleep everynight outside on the concrete versus the grass if paranoid about being inside lying on my bed.

The convenience of locking something up with easy access is the issue. If you need something secured that can't be stolen then take it to the bank lock box!! Convenience is the issue.

Some things are convenient to some as others have different needs.
