Silkworms do not acclimate. Look up the word in the dictionary if you have forgotten what it means.



Ok, if you say so. First, here is the quote that mentions acclimation from KBLB:

The shortage in production output for the first shipment is tied to the acclimation and conditioning of our silkworm line to the local production environment.



So the word your looking to define is acclimation, here's what I found:

Acclimation involves physiological, anatomical, or morphological adjustments within a single organism that improve performance or survival in response to environmental change. The extent of this acclimation is constrained by the genome of the individual.



Genome definition:

the complete set of genes or genetic material present in a cell or organism.



So in order to change the way a certain breed of silkworm reacts to its environment is to change its genetic makeup. Huh, isn't that what KBLB is in the business of doing? They are currently attempting to accomplish this by using hybrids to get the genes required for the silkworms to survive in the environment they will be raised in. Simple as that.
