The Spy has returned:

One of my meetings got cancelled and I took the opportunity to head over to the Gateway store at Union Square. First let me say that this computer store is unlike any I have every seen....almost no computers in sight. The entire front of the place is filled with gadgets that take pictures or play music. They are certainly concentrating on the accessories here.

So here is the poop:
There was no MP3 jukebox on display that was unveiled today. I spoke with a salesman and he said that they had one this morning for the unveiling but that they had taken it with them. I asked how he liked it and he said he thought it was great (big surprise). He said it was "just like an IPOD but much cooler". He loves the sound and all the features. So I asked when it would be in stock to hold and listen to. He said he thought they would have it by the end of the week. Now he is just a salesman and we know that they can be unreliable, but I thought this was a good sign of a product on the shelves soon (not an RP "soon" but a real one.)

I finally asked him if Gateway makes the player. He got a big smile on his face and said "do you want to hear the answer I am allowed to give to that question?" I said I would prefer to hear the one he is not allow to say but he wouldn't offer that one. He said that he can say that Gateway has a lot of manufactures around Asia and Europe and that they often will produce a player for one company that then has another company's name put on it. In other words, Gateway is branding it from another company. He would not tell me who it was.

Thats all. Not much of a spy story but he seemed really excited about the player. So am I.
