06:06 AM EST, 11/24/2023 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com (AMZN) is poised to receive unconditional EU antitrust approval for its proposed acquisition of iRobot (IRBT), Reuters reported Thursday, citing unnamed sources with knowledge of the matter.

The European Commission, the bloc's competition watchdog, is expected to decide on the $1.4 billion deal by Feb. 14, after warning Amazon in July that the agreement could reduce competition in robot vacuum cleaners and bolster the company's dominant position as an online marketplace provider, Reuters reported.

The European Commission declined to comment on the news in an emailed statement sent to MT Newswires. Amazon and iRobot did not immediately respond to requests for comment by MT Newswires.

Amazon shares were up 0.2% and iRobot shares were up nearly 34% in premarket activity Friday.
