The government doesn't give a shit. After the heavy dilution, legacy commons will probably lose their faith in capitalism altogether, and some will never touch stocks again for the rest of their lives. Meanwhile, the government enjoys the "realized profits" from its "investment".

Capitalism is a harsh system that mercilessly plunges people into poverty who don't know or don't want to understand its (sometimes very unfair) rules.
