Getting wrecked? I assume you don't know how to accumulate long or short and therefore put all your eggs in one basket at one price? This is a runup to sucker in people who fomo, plain and simple. Pull a simple trend line going back a few years on bit and you'll see where resistance is, or are you gonna wait for the headlines to tell you it's going to crash, after it's crashed?
