I use three monitors at work and I'd like to keep it that way.
I like 1600x1200 + 2 x 1280x1024. One monitor for QuoteTracker,
one for engineering work and one for email and web browser.
When I come into the office, I just hit ctrl-alt-delete, log in
and I'm up and running. With a laptop, it's take it out of the
backpack, plug the power cord in, plug in the ethernet, and if
using an external monitor, plug that in. Then when I leave, do
the reverse. The displays on laptops don't come close to the
brightness and size of the LCD monitors and the monitors have
height adjustable stands for the best in ergonomics. I always
use an external keyboard and wireless mouse so those would be
additional things to plug into a laptop.
For plugin monitors there is usually some setup work required in Windows. Especially when you are changing monitor types. I've done the laptop thing for many years. It's much less work using desktops.
