OKYO Pharma achieves key stability milestone for Urcosimod in clinical development

OKYO Pharma CEO Gary Jacob joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share a significant advancement in the company’s ongoing drug development efforts. The company has successfully demonstrated that urcosimod—formerly known as OK-101—remains stable for more than two and a half years in single-use ampoules, which are used for patient administration. Urcosimod is currently being evaluated in a Phase 2b clinical trial, which is a randomized, placebo-controlled, double-masked study involving 48 patients. The trial is focused on assessing the drug’s effectiveness in treating neurotrophic keratopathy (NCP), a serious and progressive degenerative eye disease. Jacob emphasized that achieving success in clinical development extends beyond obtaining positive clinical trial data. A crucial aspect of regulatory approval includes meeting the rigorous Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) requirements set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). By demonstrating long-term stability, OKYO Pharma has strengthened its regulatory submission package, addressing an essential factor in the drug’s future approval and commercialization. The company recently completed Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) stability assay testing of single-use ampoules containing urcosimod in an ophthalmic solution. The results were highly promising—ampoules stored under refrigerated conditions maintained stability for over two and a half years, while initial three-month data from samples stored at room temperature showed potency levels at or above 100%. These findings reinforce confidence in urcosimod’s shelf life and its potential for real-world clinical use. Switch Metals eyes fast-track tantalum output in Côte d'Ivoire as it lists on AIM

Switch Metals Plc (AIM:SWT) CEO Karl Akueson talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s listing on London’s AIM market and its focus on developing tantalum projects in Côte d'Ivoire. Akueson explained that Switch Metals, a private company he founded, was acquired through a reverse takeover by Oneiro Energy. The company's flagship Issia project hosts tantalum mineralisation, including occurrences of coltan at surface. According to Akueson, this provides an opportunity for near-term production from shallow deposits, with the company aiming to reach output within the next two years. He described tantalum as “a very strategic technology metal… in our mobile phones, laptops, plasma TV, everything we use daily,” highlighting its importance and rarity. Akueson emphasised that 60% of the global supply currently comes from the DRC and Rwanda, and Switch Metals aims to become a significant alternative source. Discussing the decision to list in the UK, Akueson pointed to his personal background and the UK’s long-standing understanding of African production. ACG Metals CFO says hold hedge strategy is already paying off

ACG Metals Ltd chief financial officer Patrick Henze talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s recently announced gold hedging strategy and its importance during ACG’s transition phase from precious to base metals. Henze explained that while ACG Metals is ultimately targeting copper production from its Gediktepe mine in Turkey by 2026, the mine currently generates strong cash flow from gold and silver. The company has moved to hedge 50% of its gold production at US$2,875 per ounce through January 2026, helping secure revenue in a volatile pricing environment. He noted: “We are currently producing gold and silver, which is a perfect transition for us to become a copper producer in ’26… we can benefit and protect a bit the cash flows by hedging the gold.” The hedge program, executed with Alpha, involves no cash outlay and allows ACG to retain upside exposure above US$3,065 per ounce on the hedged portion. Henze emphasised this strategy helps ACG provide more certainty to bondholders and equity investors by de-risking key financial metrics for 2025. Central to this shift is the European Union’s €800 billion "Rearm Europe Readiness 2030" initiative, aimed at bolstering military preparedness.
