THE SHORTS ARE WINNING
Stocks in the large-cap Russell 1,000®
were down an average of roughly 9.5% from the
stock market’s 2023 high on July 31 through
the close on 9/27, but the 100 most heavily
shorted stocks (as a percentage of float) were
down nearly double that at -18.1%.
