You clearly want the last word on this topic. DCF analysis is commonly used to estimate the value of a Company and the discount rate used in that analysis matters. Have you never created a DCF model?

With respect to ranking capital investment projects, here again the discount rate matters as not all capital investment projects by a given Company should use the same discount factor, however, you seem to think otherwise.
