From what I see thus far, the vast majority of transactions are buys, almost no sells at all. From what I have seen over years is that when a stock is being positioned for a proper run, the large money moves in and can drive the price down by up to half before letting it run. This, in my opinion, is done to help create a better likelihood of profits over the course of the run. The hard part for smaller investors is to sit back and to let this play out.

The strategy I use is to decide up front what kind of a return I want , then to place sell orders to accommodate this. That way I don't have to babysit it or chase it if the run goes wacky high. If you try to guess when the run is over, you will almost always fail every time and end up kissing a nice potential profit goodbye as you try to get your sell order executed while the stock's price may be nose-diving.
