That was very cool! The octopus comes into view at about the :54 mark if anyone is impatient. Although, it was kind of fun hearing them fret about whether they're going to get a siting though and then the quiet excitement when it comes into view...sort of sets the mood.

The science thing I've also found very interesting these days is the recovering of materials from the asteroid. I was listening to something on NPR and they were talking about how many years this was in the making. Going from memory it sounds like it was at least an 8 year thing. A strange part was that when they were trying to get the sample they expected the surface to act like a hard surface. But instead it reacted like a liquid. The sampling tube? or whatever actually ended up being absorbed into the asteroid. So they were able to collect a larger sample variety than they ever dreamed. That just kind of drove home how very "alien" this is. She said the samplings would be likely be studied for decades all over the world.

The next project is launching another sampling that they are planning on it rendezvousing with the next asteroid in 2025. It's just kind of mind boggling to consider that it's going to take 3 years to get to the interception point - if all goes as planned. Then a couple of years likely to get the sampling they need. Then another 3 years or so to get back.
