You're half right.

He omitted Lazar, but you ignored Adam Tracy. I guess the most accurate explanation is that it was hijacked three times? First by Tracy, then by Lazar, then by Sharp.

Also, the $90k judgment wasn't specific to Lazar, it was owed to Sharp because he sued GOFF back in 2013 over receiving unsolicited emails pumping GOFF. Ironically, had Calasse been an active CEO back then, he could have contested the lawsuit and GOFF wouldn't have owed Sharp anything, which is what happened for several other companies that Sharp sued.

The short version is that an unfair business practices statute in California allowed Sharp to sue fraudsters for up to $1k per unsolicited email received. While locating the actual fraudsters would be difficult, Sharp included each of the corporations as a defendant and argued that they conspired with the pump and dump fraudsters and should therefore be liable.

When a corporation contested the lawsuit, Sharp had no proof that they conspired with the fraudsters and the lawsuit was dismissed. But GOFF never contested, so he was awarded a default judgment that grew to the $90k. When Lazar attempted to terminate custodianship, Sharp used that debt to replace Lazar as custodian.

The more you know!

The truth is never popular.
