This is something I loathe, especially on Reddit. A post is generally never deleted, leading to a "loophole" that Dave didn't elaborate on and is still accessible (by forum moderators).
Reddit is notorious for banning users, who might have had an account that's 5 or 15 years old with no recourse or appeal. One deleted post and suddenly you can no longer post or reply to your favorite forum.
There's no appeal process and if you complain, the moderator who probably lives in their parents basement will then probably tell Reddit this user is harassing me and the forum and is violating community guidelines.
Now your 15 or 20 year old account gets a permanent site ban and you are prohibited from ever using their site ever again.
This happened to me after congratulating a recently awarded prize winner in Literature in r/Nobel by the Nobel Prize Committee.
Seems on topic, right? The basement dweller moderator said the person I congratulated didn't deserve the award the rest his history.
