I have no skin in the game any longer, so the outcome of the dismissal won’t impact me. I had a very significant number of shares for a considerable period of time but used that short-lived ‘run up’ a couple of years ago as an opportunity to get out. I also haven’t tracked HDC regularly, but the dismissal intrigues me, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed for those shareholders who have lived through the agony of holding shares for so many years.

That said, I was never very fond of literally anyone who was involved with the company, either in a management or a board position. BQ, KK, MD, and others come to mind. Big talkers, no action. Couldn’t run a lemonade stand. Frankly, I thought they were all self-serving and could care less about shareholder interest. Yet, I bring this up because one or more of those same individuals whom I wanted nowhere near the company might actually be individuals whom shareholders need, and this ties back to the Vennwest suit. Allow me to elaborate.

Inasmuch as the Vennwest suit can be viewed as muddying the waters, it possibly did play one central role which could be of benefit to shareholders, particularly in light of the dismissal and its potential for shareholder value. Had Vennwest not filed suit when it did, was there a chance HDC might have filed for bankruptcy, thereby passing all the remaining assets and the IP to George and his colleague who also put money in to help the company survive for a period of time? I recall the details of that SEC filing. Shareholders might have been left in the dust. Separately, unless Colleen personally desires to continue being involved in HDC (can’t speak for her, but it must be a grind especially after George’s passing), Vennwest might actually be ‘what the doctor ordered’ in terms of serving as the management arm that could conceivably get the company up to date and trading again, while allowing her to peacefully exit.

This Vennwest situation, while possibly a pain in the you know what, could play out favorably for Colleen, regardless of the outcome of the dismissal with Intel. If HDC really doesn’t get a favorable settlement, she passes control to Vennwest and wipes her hands of the mess so that she can get on with her life, hoping to avoid more lawsuits. If the dismissal results in a favorable settlement, she still passes operational control, takes a chunk of the settlement that George orchestrated, and moves on with a much-enhanced bank account. Life’s funny that way. George didn’t want any part of them, yet they of all people might be what Colleen needs to have a clean exit once and for all.

Of course, Vennwest can then screw things up from there, and BQ can have some more fun sending positive updates to shareholders that actually don’t result in anything of value.

Should be interesting. But, of course, I’m just surmising.
