The Chinese are making a comeback. My doctor showed me how you text in Chinese.
First, you use our alphabet to spell out the word, then you press a button.
Voila! The Chinese symbol appears.

So are we at the beginning or the end of our multi-thousand-year cycle?
Time will tell.
