As I follow-up I wrote about selling your shares to your broker for a penny (or whatever is the legal equivalent of zero), and in reply you wrote "correct."

So, do you actually agree that you don't have to "put in an order to sell" (at retail) to liquidate when a stock isn't trading at all?
