My first stock ever was given to me by my grandfather sixty some years ago. It was a penny stock mutual fund that was worth $500. Total. The best thing about it was the growth of curiosity about the market. So, after spending the proceeds from that IDS fund I went looking for better investments.
Land worked- so ten acres was bought in Alaska. A house started to form-actually a plywood shack with a visqueen roof covering the first year. A cheap wood burner with the chimney going out thru a scrap piece of sheet metal nailed to a future window. Always thought about stocks- even during the first warm up fire- the one I hoped would melt an inch of ice that covered the floor.
