I agree. There's motivation though. It's called greed. After the shenanigans and abuses in the past (HERA, NWS, Scotus, Lamberth), all boundaries of decency have been crossed, there is no shame anymore. It's unlikely that the government will become more modest after the Lamberth debacle; rather, it will become even more encroaching.
