Once in awhile someone throws in the towel.

But that's pretty rare. Of course, when that happens it presents a short-term opportunity (usually) to pick up some very cheap shares. Unfortunately, you have to be watching the trading almost constantly, which I can't do. You can also have a "stink bid" in to try and pick up those cheapies. I've only tried that strategy once in awhile.
