There is an old saying, "there are lies, damn lies and statistics". Jake's post is a perfect example of that. The last comment by Jake, that the 2021 RSV season was one of the largest surges we have seen, is a bold faced lie.
First, the link he provided only shows 2021 and 2022 so you can't make any historical comparisons.
Second, the link he provides shows only the percentage of tests so there is ZERO data to show how prevalent RSV was in the population in either 2021 0r 2022.
Third, the data in Jake's link shows that viral isolation was far lower in 2021.
Now, if you want data that actually provides data for historical comparisons for 2017-2023, here is a published paper showing such a historical comparison. The 2021 season had far less RSV than any other year in the study period. Figure one provides the data. The widely-spaced black dashes (2021-2022) vividly shows how low RSV was that season. Another anomaly is 2022-2023 as the peak formed some 2-3 month earlier than usual and then dropped off more rapidly that usual.
