Lanham and Cutler were given many many extensions over years to fix the problem.

They were not noobs to the game, either. They had plenty of experience but were not able to fix the problem and had to walk away.

Can George get shit done with the same entity? We'll see. But he has already expressed regret that he ever took it on and admitted in hindsight that he would not have if he knew then what he knows now.
