When his lead character comes to Tom Paine's "Age of Reason" he finds every page blank.
He is shocked, he asks them why?
They reply: The earth is without reason, it is irrational. The author is highminded but has lost touch with reality; the fact is the earth is fundamentally insane.

I have a friend who was in a seminary student for the Jesuit priesthood, he quit when he found the church had nothing to do with the man Jesus but was but the church of Augustine of Hippo.
A man,'Saint' Augustine, who amomg other things judged it alright to torture and kill christians guilty of heresy; which was basically those being guilty of dismissing the teaching of 'Saint' Augustine.
