The representatives of the Romanian company with majority state capital Hidroelectrica , respectively the heads of the company MASDAR - Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, from the United Arab Emirates , signed on Monday, a joint venture agreement for the construction of wind farms, informs the company from Abu Dhabi and the Presidential Administration of Romania.

MASDAR aligns itself with new global trends. The Arab company belongs to the United Arab Emirates government and uses renewable energy.

In order to realize the promised investments, Hidroelectrica and MASDAR will establish a joint venture.

The first investments on the list are the construction of two photovoltaic parks within the "Mândra" developments, on Olt, in the basin of the former Fagara? - Hoghiz reservoir, respectively Ostrov, near Portile de Fier, on the Danube.

The photovoltaic park on the Olt river will have an installed capacity of 300 MW.


The agreement between Hidroelectrica and MASDAR was signed in the presence of President Klaus Iohannis, who is on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates, writes G4Media .




Who is MASDAR, the company from the United Arab Emirates that invests in Romania


MASDAR has projects carried out in 40 countries around the world and has 16 years of experience in the development and construction of renewable energy production capacities. According to data provided by the company and cited by Hidroelectrica, since 2006, MASDAR has invested mainly in solar and wind energy projects, the combined value of which amounts to more than 30 billion dollars.

Hidroelectrica is the largest producer of green energy in our country, with a market share of approximately 28%, achieved with an average annual production of 15.7 TWh delivered to the network. Also, Hidroelectrica is the most profitable Romanian company, with a portfolio of 187 hydropower plants, with a hydropower capacity of 6.3 GW. Added to all this is the Crucea wind farm, with an installed power of 108 MW.
