If only KBLB had continued producing silk. But silk production was halted at GSS. We know this from the lack of change in inventory and more explicitly from the newsletter.

Obviously during the ramp-up, GSS produced some amount of silk that KBLB has inventoried right now. But they halted production completely. Why not accept the losses for the sake of getting more silk?

All I can postulate is that the losses were severe. If GSS was only losing 50% of their silk, I would expect that KBLB would still want what they could produce. Heck, I wish they would continue production even with 90% losses. Just make silk, Thompson. It is all about production and the lack thereof.
