VOLVO GIFT SUPPORTS UNCG’S BRYAN SCHOOL BLUEPRINT SERIES
Volvo is helping steer UNC Greensboro’s students toward success in their careers.

Volvo Group North America, LLC, has pledged $100,000 to UNC Greensboro for the purpose of supporting the UNCG’s Bryan School of Business and Economics Blueprint Series.

The Blueprint Series is a required four-credit undergraduate curriculum focused on accelerating business students’ personal and professional development.

Consisting of personal, professional, global and intercultural, and leadership components, this groundbreaking series at UNCG is designed to equip students with the employability skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing industry landscape.

Martin Weissburg, chairman of Volvo Group North America, executive vice president of Volvo Group, and president of Mack Trucks, formerly served on UNCG’s Board of Trustees.

“The symbiotic relationship between the Triad community and UNCG has become extremely evident to me over the years,” he said. “UNCG opens doors for every deserving student, providing opportunities for students of every background to achieve their academic goals. These graduates go on to become our workforce and our neighbors. That is why Volvo believes that UNCG is a critical lynchpin in the stability and success of the area. I’m thrilled to announce that Volvo is making a critical investment in the Bryan School of Business and Economics.”

McRae C. “Mac” Banks, Margaret & Harrell Hill Distinguished Professor and Dean of the Bryan School, said, “This gift is a tremendous affirmation of the Bryan School’s work to develop students to compete for the best internships and full-time jobs and to be job-ready at graduation. We have seen tremendous results from the Bryan Blueprint Series and the Volvo Group North America has benefited from it. The entire School and I are deeply grateful to the company and Martin Weissburg for the impact they are having both on our students and on our graduates’ employers and communities.”

Volvo Group drives prosperity through transport and infrastructure solutions, offering trucks, buses, construction equipment, power solutions for marine and industrial applications, financing and services that increase our customers’ uptime and productivity. They are committed to shaping the future landscape of sustainable transport and infrastructure solutions.

With this gift, they will also shape the students’ future prosperity and the impact they will have throughout their careers.

Many UNCG graduates work for Volvo Group North America. Over 245 alumni are employed with Volvo Group, Weissburg noted, with several alumni serving as leaders on their team. In addition to their past generosity to UNCG, Volvo hosts Spartan interns and participates in professional development, career fairs, and information sessions offered at the University.

This pledge is part of UNCG’s Light the Way: The Campaign for Earned Achievement. This comprehensive fundraising campaign seeks to raise $200 million to increase access, elevate academic excellence, and enhance the tremendous impact of UNCG’s programs.
