Re Jim Cramer's interest in mezcal -- I can't say I'm either sorry or surprised to hear that.
I can't blame Nixon (in the past) for trying to 'catch the wave' of the legal side of pot-related products, i.e., CBD, but arguably it was 'a bust'. COVID-19 might have been part of the problem (dispersing the wave of even the ability to go to restaurants), but it also isn't really a food product, and as a beverage, it was a yawner.
Mezcal, on the other hand, is obviously a beverage that is an attractive product for someone in the 'food and beverage' industry, so maybe ... just maybe ... Nixon saw the 'next wave' 2 years ago, and is now about to surf a huge 'breaker' in the industry, now that the post-COVID, "Hey, honey, lets get out of the house and go to a great place to eat," trend has brought the restaurant business back to life.
Nixon's "Illegal Brands" trademark may have serendipitously brought success to his doorstep, with Ilegal Mezcal's 'knock' against the door of the Trademarks that he actually already owns, and not just this graphic logo that he was pursuing.
If the Trademark was worth Ilegal Mezcal's time to fight about in court for 2 years (most of which were 'settlement negotiations' which, it turns out, were real), then hopefully the settlement will pay off for all.
