This is what I'm talking about. War is expensive. Resources to fight wars aren't limitless.
War is historically what bankrupts' countries that are fighting those wars. The U.S. and NATO are expending massive resources right now with their aid to the Ukraine and so is Russia.

We know China is most likely helping Russia in some way behind the scenes, so that's helping them. Also, to your earlier point that China wants to see the U.S. draw down as much of their weapons as possible before they make a move on Taiwan, so the longer the Ukraine war drags out the better for their situation. The U.S. probably won't be capable of doing anything militarily against China when they invade Taiwan. The U.S. may not have enough oil either.
