All that tells me is that the product is marginal or the price is outrageous. If you have to try and appeal to one's sense of community your product has a limited market because of a host of factors. The boiler plate virtue signalling, moral narcissism, etc., etc. of "giving back" is a requirement today and means the product ain't moving. People use to just give to their favorite charities and/or religious institutions and not wear it on their shirt sleeve. It just felt good and that was enough. I bet they formed a non-profit just for this ad campaign!!
