As I have said before I think that was probably their thinking in offering him the deal back then. They wanted him to go down for a good stretch... deservedly.
But <10 years on a non violent offence could qualify him for minimum security, But over 10 years to serve disqualifies that option.
They basically offered him that if he went quietly he'd go away for a nice long time, but do easier jail. The alternative was to fight it and go down for EVEN longer, and harder ... i.e. somewhere far less cushy.
I doubt that initial offer is still open. (If it is he should and will grab it!)
But the leverage they have on him now is the threat of additional indictments for offences committed while he was out on bail. So I would expect the best deal on offer now to be not as good as what he could have 'won' if he had not tried to wriggle out of the hole he dug himself!
