1.Then why has his defence been left to the public defender?
2.He hasn't failed to make bail. He was released on personal recognizance. He violated the terms of release, and was committed. Bail is not an option open to him now. He has proven he cannot be trusted.
3.He is not getting out again until after trial at the earliest (if by some miracle...) or - much more likely - the completion of any sentence handed down.
4.Expect a plea. His unopposed motion to defer the trial has backfired on him spectacularly. If he does not plead, he will now languish going nowhere on remand for many more months in a busy jail, when he could have instead have already been ingratiating himself with the DOC and working on the cascade towards a minimum security federal prison.
5. If he had rolled over when first indicted by now he would now already be 2+ years into a 9.5 year stretch. He would likely be getting out in 4-5 years from now.
I would guess he is now only 3 weeks into a 15-20 stretch, and will do another decade from now at least.... If he lives that long in jail.
