The Two Foundations

“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them will be like a sensible man who built his house on the rock. The rain fell, the rivers rose, and the winds blew and pounded that house. Yet it didn’t collapse, because its foundation was on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of Mine and doesn’t act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. The rain fell, the rivers rose, the winds blew and pounded that house, and it collapsed. And its collapse was great!”

The lifestyle of Jesus is what the true believer strives to be like. By His human example and through His teachings, we learn of the nature of God, and the expectations for the followers of Christ. Jesus gives to us much Godly wisdom in His "Sermon on the Mount" as recorded in the scriptures of Matthew 5-7, and God's expectations of those that claim to be Christians is to abide by Jesus' words of instruction.

Think About It:

• Are you abiding by Jesus' instructions and living your life as Christlike as humanly possible?
• Are you sincerely serving God through obedience to Him?
• If not - then why not?

Ask the Holy Spirit today to show you the areas of your life that are not in alignment with God's will, and then pray for the courage and strength to shape you into the image of Christ Jesus.
