Yea…seems pretty obvious…I don’t know why this is all being convoluted into something so complicated…

The AF wants spider silk…Kblb makes spider silk…Kblb has ALWAYS had the ability to produce their spider silk under lab conditions…I can’t imagine anyone disagreeing with this statement…

I think there is confusion on this board when trying to compare the old Army contract with this new situation.

Simply put:

2016 original Army contract = a contract for spider silk as a product.

2023 Air Force RFI = grant to build the domestic infrastructure for spider silk.

There is a big difference between the two. The barrier to entry to get AF funding is much lower. Kraig Labs could send them a single fiber to test and say "This is what we could make you if we just had the money to build a domestic facility". Thats the point of this current RFI.
