As you say, their fibers were not particularly tough. If that is the best Spiber can do, KBLB will have little to fear from them. Mundane silk is tougher than that.



Yeah, no shit. This's what I've been saying forever.

As for costs, Spiber certainly knows the price points that have to be reached to compete in this market. If they can’t, Spiber will probably sell off their plant to a pharmaceutical firm looking to expand their biologics production.



I've stated in the past that I suspected the only reason ADM ever partnered with Spiber was to buy them. It's low risk for them and they will likely just purchase Spiber outright so they have instant protein production in Thailand and a limited amount in Japan. Once that happens, those bioreactors will never make Spibers "brewed protein" again, because it's useless.
