A company that is running out of money in 2 or 3 quarters going bankrupt after that is not one a short will run away from. Because if you are a short you get to keep 100% of your up front short position money tax free if the company files a bankruptcy.
If AMC does the RS the co can sell 150M shares and pay off the $5B debt and go green/profitable. Shorts are afraid of profitable companies. Like using garlic or the cross to a vampire when a company goes profitable and green to a short.
