The alleged campaign finance violation for Trump amounts to pocket change for him 130 K (Trump donated more than that to the US Gov, from his salary while he was President) AND no one disputes the fact that Cohen made the payment. Whether Trump authorized the payment directly or indirectly, the payment itself was NOT illegal in any way.
The alleged violation had previously been investigated and the prosecutor declined to pursue any charges.
The statute of limitations for pursuing criminal charges over this matter has also expired.
A civil case over the matter has already lost and had a much lower threshold for burden of proof. A criminal case would certainly lose in any legitimate court AND Grand Jury investigations are SUPPOSED to be secret.
Why the double standard for Trump?
