Albanian Energy Exchange/ Balluku: Consumer protection is a priority, private producers trade energy on the exchange.

ALPEX is the first Albanian Energy Exchange that will also serve Kosovo. Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku, present at the event, appreciated the work done by the Ministry of Energy for the creation of this scholarship, which is the second in the region.

"Today I am here to crown a 5-year work, which at some moments seemed impossible, but the year 2022 has marked the extreme need to have an energy exchange for Albania and Kosovo. Here we are to launch the first auction of ALPEX and to give an opportunity that within 12 months we can have 3 daily auctions completing this whole process. This is only the first step, we have a second energy exchange in the region that belongs to the Republic of Albania and Kosovo".

But, according to Balluk, this was only the first step and now a new battle begins to create liquidity with the priority to protect final consumers from the price of electricity.

"No one can say that we are done. Now begins a new war for the creation of liquidity that this stock exchange should have, without forgetting that our priority is the protection of the final consumer from the dizzying market prices. Energy security is the main goal of the Albanian government. 2022 threatened once again that the most powerful weapon to strike a country, a continent, was energy. Energy security is the key to protecting the sovereignty of a country" , said Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, among other things.

Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku announced that the Albanian Energy Exchange will also serve private energy producers in our country, who will have the opportunity to trade electricity on this exchange.

And here we are talking about the energy produced by solar panels.

"Only 1 week ago, together with the Prime Minister, we visited one of the first private parks that is being built in the Seman area. So they are concrete cases. And all these energy quantities which will be added to our domestic production, whatever happens to them? Where will they be marketed? They will be traded transparently and in a fair competition precisely on the Albanian Energy Exchange. All private producers of electricity will have the opportunity to compete with each other in the most transparent way, benefiting from the stock exchange, but on the other hand, thus giving both our industry and the international market the opportunity to receive electricity at prices as low as more competitive and as low as possible" , said Deputy Prime Minister Balluku, among other things.

American Ambassador Yuri Kim and officials from Kosovo were also present at the event.
