My recollection was they had 50 hoodies available in each size. Probably 200 total.

So just those two, we count hundreds of garments sold to the public containing Spiber silks.

Your recollection is wrong.

It was 50 Moon Parkas (at ~$1500 a piece) and "less than 200" hoodies (at ~$395). The hoodies contain 12% "brewed protein". So with and average sweater weighing half a kilo, that would equate to about 12 total kilos of "brewed protein" for their hoodie launch.

The Moon Parkas are built in three layers. The outside layer (mix of brewed protein, waterproof laminant, and polyester), the fill (CLEANDOWN), and the inner lining (100% polyester). I can't imagine there being more than a few ounces or brewed protein in the outermost 3rd of the outermost layer.

All-in-all, you're looking at less than 30 kilos of "brewed protein" for those two launches combined.

Kraig Labs is interested in doing that. They will wait until production is churning out metric tonnes of actual spider silk protein fibers on a regular basis.

*don't get me started on Bolt Threads tie launch which equated to a grand total of 3 kilos of their silk*
