Not just that. Most of Spibers patent application are focused on trying to solve the many challenges of spinning into a fiber. They are trying to replicate the intricate way a spinneret removes water and changes the pH of the protein instantaneously, along with hundreds of other little known micro-processes within the spinneret that transforms the protein into a fiber.

Kraig Labs doesn't need to figure out and patent those processes like Spiber does.. The silkworms do this automatically.

And like I said earlier, Kraig Labs doesn't have to figure out (or patent) any type of purification process because the silkworms glands only produce the desired proteins.
