TIRANA- Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku has declared that the energy crisis has been successfully dealt with. During his speech in the Assembly, Balluku emphasized during today's plenary session that the government's priority is energy independence. Balluku also added that the Albanian government aims to make Albania a net exporting country and not an importing country by 2029.
"Dependence on imports was so high that it was decided that a good part of HEC would be given in exchange for VAT at that time. Today, while we import the energy produced by a part of the HEC to serve this country, it is used by companies that have completely privatized it without any right. The big plan consisted only in the privatization of the state HPP and in the establishment of small HPPs without study, taking away the drinking water, or the water that was used for agriculture in all the villages, and taking advantage of the Albanians from morning to evening. But the Rama government has done everything differently. First of all, we have a real strategy for the development of the energy sector, which has already come to life in the last 4 years, and it is the diversification of energy sources. We don't even rely on the comments of paid portals,
2022 has shown us once again that today energy security is a priority, that energy is being used as a weapon against the EU, against the USA and this clearly seen, as we have seen another thing clearly in 2022, the government through a good management of the cascade of Drini, despite a very dry winter, through a good management of imports, we managed to offer uninterrupted service to our citizens, and above all, a service that did not recognize even a penny of increase. No matter what was said during 2022, misinformation to create panic in people, but nothing happened. And we showed that we are a government that knows how to manage crises, as we did with the pandemic, the earthquake, or even the energy crisis. To return to the law. Through a well-studied strategy, we aim to create new additional capacities in 2029, of production with 4 terawatts from today's production. Making Albania a net exporting country and not an importing country. Albania's energy independence is a priority of the Rama government, and above all, Albania's energy independence will also be energy independence for the region,"said Balluk.
