And, in addition to relying on the "hype," they consumed huge amounts of the Kool-Aid, and bought into and relied on all of the bogus conspiracy theories, believed in all of the Fairy Tales and fictional bogey men, and continued to watch and believe all of the fictional amateur YouTube videos put out by amateur wannabes, etc. Years from now the children and grandchildren of the APES will likely be perpetuating the myths and predicting that the huge MOASS here with AMC is just right around the corner any day now.
