That doesn't take 'bad' blood, it would be about greed. Lannett is going to be a competitor very soon. The fewer customers Elite has the more available for Lannett. On the other hand Lannett risks the FDA not being as stupid as they seem and the FDA could be fully aware that Lannett is not the manufacturer and decide to punish Lannett rather than Elite (if it is petty enough to punish anyone....)
So Lannett went out on a limb to talk with the press.

It also could have been someone at Lannett who picked up the phone and hadn't gotten the memo you never talk to reporters then they are probably out of a job. My company train us to never talk to the press and to push any questions it to the communications department. Not that I have ever been asked anything or known anyone who has, but it shows that companies view uncontrolled comments as a risk.
