While the 'food innovation' areas have been clobbered by the bear market, indoor vertical farming seems like an interesting area since it largely eliminates the need for pesticides and herbicides. But the initial setup costs are high, as are the energy costs for all the LED lighting required, and there are numerous other disadvantages.

Still, it might be a viable niche industry for greens and salad type plants. Two I've been looking at are AppHarvest (APPH) and Local Bounti (LOCL). Local Bounti has gotten some funding from food giant Cargill, so might be an interesting investment idea.
