I have respect for Baer but he's a 'on site' marine archaeologist. Not a emote sensing survey specialist. He certainly understands that the magnetometer is the survey 'work horse' that gets you to the wreck site, contrary to what some of the naive posters here believe.

Baer also knows very well that the CEO's treasure evaluations are pure bull but he's a paid contract archaeologist so he's going to either remain silent or 'bend' just so far. Know that he cringes using the word treasure but that's what the CEO wants.
