"As FHFA expected, the Net Worth Sweep resulted
in massive and unprecedented payments to the
government. All told, through the third quarter of
2019, the Net Worth Sweep has required the
companies to transfer to Treasury over $300 billion in
purported dividends—$136 billion more than
Treasury could have received under the original
agreements.
