..... As you can imagine, there has been enormous interest in our Electric Hilux. It has been up and down the East Coast of Australia and will be on its way to Perth next week and available for Test Drives from the 13th Feb. ( from a SEA recent post)

.......... The partnership will see specialist all-electric Hilux and Landcruiser models made available for the mining industry, with MEVCO making a commitment to order 8,500 units over the next five years.

The deal has a total value of close to AU$1 billion.

.... SEA Electric, founded in Australia and headquartered in the US, is offering EV conversion kits for Toyota Hilux pickups, Ford Transit vans, Isuzu trucks, and other LCVs. In the case of the Hilux EV, the SEA-Drive powertrain comprises a permanent electric motor that produces a maximum of 180 hp (134 kW / 182 PS) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque. Power is transmitted to either the rear (4×2) or to all four wheels (4×4) depending on the specification of the donor vehicle.

At the time of the launch, over half of the 2023 allocation of the Australian-developed battery-electric vehicles have been pre-sold, with demonstration models available in Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
